US Electoral 2016 Updates: Trump Regrets Saying Wrong Things; Hillary Clinton's Team Doubts the Change
Republican presidential candidate says that he may say the wrong things especially when talking about different issues in a debate or speech.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says that he expressed regret over the wrong things that he said in the past. Reports said that he has backed down Thursday and did the unthinkable by acknowledging his mistakes.
Trump read from a prepared speech Thursday night and said that sometimes he says the "wrong thing." Viewers saw this action as a signal from Trump to break from his brash ways and to embrace a better strategy to get him more votes on general election day.
The Republican nominee said that in the heat of speaking in public or in a debate, he might not be able to choose the right words to say especially when he's talking about different issues at a time. He said that he has regretted his words especially those that may have caused pain. She added that there was too much at stake for their party as they concentrate on these issues instead of working on their campaign.
He ended the interview with a promise saying that he will always tell the truth.
Trump made these remarks but did not go into detail which statement he regretted the most or which one he was referring to. His regrets stem from several controversies that he has placed himself and his party at risk in the past. One was the war of words with the parents of a Muslim-American soldier killed in Iraq. Still, this admission was a part of his decision to revamp his campaign management team. He has appointed a new campaign manager and campaign CEO.
New campaign manager
Kellyanne Conway, Trump's new campaign manager said that she will improve Trump's campaign message. She will focus on this during her first few days on the job. Conway said that she and her team will make sure that the Republican will be comfortable about the change that will happen. She said that voters are oblivious if a candidate is comfortable or not.
Conway said that she will let Trump if he wants to say what he wants, if he wants to attend a rally, to connect with people or anything spontaneous. She said that this was how Trump started. She also hopes that the media would focus on more important issues.
Trump has mentioned several times before that he does not want change or in his own words, to "pivot." He mentioned this week in a local Wisconsin station WKDT saying "I am who I am. It's me. I don't want to change."
He said that he doesn't want to change and if he starts pivoting then he is not being honest with people.
Clinton team in doubt
The campaign team of Hillary Clinton expressed their doubts over Trump's sincerity. Christina Reynolds, Clinton's spokeswoman said that Trump started his presidential campaign by insulting people and he has done this until now. His apology was just a written statement but things would definitely change if he points out which one of his comments he regrets.
