Utah Jazz NBA Trade Rumors: Jazz Are Testing the Market for Derrick Favors

The Utah Jazz have been relatively quiet in the weeks leading to the trade deadline, but now they have suddenly become one of the busiest teams in the trade market. There was talk of a potential Deron Williams reunion, and they were reportedly one of the teams looking to acquire Phoenix Suns forward P. J. Tucker. Reports also say they were interested in Lou Williams as well before he was traded to the Houston Rockets.

The Jazz might look like last-minute shoppers in the trade market, but ESPN's Zach Lowe has pointed out that they haven't been sitting idly while other teams were making their moves weeks ago. According to Lowe, the Jazz have tested the trade market for power forward Derrick Favors over the past few weeks, but he does not know if they were really considering moving him.

"Utah's seriousness on Favors is unclear; they are mum as usual, and they don't want to weaken their team ahead of the playoffs with Hayward heading to free agency. Favors is still an important player. They could be testing the market ahead of a trade around the draft," Lowe said in his report.

Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune said the Suns have reached out to the Jazz to ask about Favors' availability, but no deal has been made so far. It's interesting to note that the Jazz are reportedly one of the teams interested in Tucker. Some observers have noted that maybe the Suns could come up with a trade package centered on Tucker. The question is, will that offer make the Jazz consider trading Favors?

Don't forget that Favors has put up borderline All-Star numbers when he's healthy and he is also one of the best two-way players in the league. He may have struggled this season due to a nagging knee injury, but he's still a core member of the team. Teams interested in acquiring him will have to come up with a huge offer if they want the Jazz to blink.
