Vampire Diaries Season 6 Release Date: New Season Premiere Date Expected Fall 2014
The Vampire Diaries Season 6 release date should air later this fall after the show was renewed for a new season following a dramatic Season 5 finale on the CW network on Thursday night.
The Season 5 finale was titled "Home" and the synopsis for the episode stated: "Season 5 ends with Damon trying to stop the disintegration of the Other Side.
Meanwhile, Elena takes matters into her own hands and demands that Liv and Luke help her; and Markos uses violence against Tyler/Julian to prove that Mystic Falls is under the control of the Travelers."
Fans have been left stunned by various events in recent episodes at the end of Season 5, including the death of Stefan. Fans also saw how Damon looked to save his brother from the Other Side despite his grieving.
Recently CW president Mark Pedowitz said in a report, promoting the network's successful midweek lineup:
"'The Vampire Diaries' is No. 2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with Arrow continuing to gain among young men, and Reign growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday."
Pedowitz continued: "I'm very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series and let our fans know they'll have more great drama to look forward to next season," said the CW exec in the announcement.
The CW renewed five shows recently: "The Originals" ("The Vampire Diaries" spinoff), "Arrow", "Reign", "Supernatural", and "The Vampire Diaries".
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 6 is expected to begin in either September or October.
