Venus Williams vs Angelique Kerber at Wimbledon 2016: Match Schedule, Live Stream & ESPN (TV Info.) - Australian Open Champion Takes on Former World No. 1

Five-time champion Venus Williams will face Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber in the semifinals of the Wimbledon Championship 2016 on Thursday after beating Yaroslava Shvedova during the quarter finals.

Last Tuesday, Williams sealed her spot in the Wimbledon semifinals for the first time since 2009 after winning over unseeded Shvedova, 7-6 (7-5) 6-3.

Williams' impressive win over Shvedova emphasized how she can be a real threat in the championship games. She became the oldest Grand Slam semifinalist since 1994.

Although Williams was diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome—an autoimmune disorder that can cause extreme fatigue and joint pain—she still learned how to manage and deal with her illness by being a vegan and staying away from sugar.

According to David Witt, Venus had prepared so much for Wimbledon.

"She's in the semis now. It's going to be a tough match against Kerber. But how can you not give her a shot to win that? And you get to the final and it comes down to one match. If you play your best tennis, that's it, you win," Witt said in an interview.

Meanwhile, Angelique Kerber had a very extraordinary match with Simona Halep, leading her to her first Wimbledon semifinals since 2012, prevailing 7-5 7-6 (7-2).

During the game, both Halep and Kerber struggled in the first set, but the reigning Australian Open Champion almost dictated the game later on.

While Halep showed an impressive baseline display, Kerber earned bigger points during the final two games of the set. Kerber finally wrapped it up in straight sets in 90 minutes of unpredictable match.

Considering that her serve needs more punch and improvement, she plans to spend Wednesday in enhancing her skills for her match with Venus.

"I've played against her in a lot of tough matches, as well. She's always dangerous on grass, especially here at Wimbledon. She has a lot of confidence right now. It's the next challenge. It's the semis. I will just try to play like the last matches, being aggressive," she said in an interview pertaining to her next opponent, Venus Williams.

While the two parties are in preparation for the semifinals on July 7, viewers are also looking forward to Venus and her sister, Serena Williams, as oppontents on the finals match.
