Victoria Beckham on Marriage to David Beckham: 'We're So Proud of Each Other'
Victoria and David Beckham have been married for 14 years and have managed to survive the good, the bad, and the ugly. Now the couple is prominently featured on the cover of Paris Vogue and is speaking about the dynamic relationship they share.
"David and I have been through so much together. We've had our ups and downs, but we're so proud of each other," Victoria said. "We've always been – and I include the children in this – amazingly happy about the success David has achieved … all those matches where we stood cheering on the terraces."
Victoria served as the guest editor of the magazine, which she called "an incredible honor" earlier this year. "Working with Emmanuelle Alt and her team was both exciting and inspiring and I am so proud of what we have created."
The couple met at a charity football match in 1997, but Victoria did not know much about the sport or who David was. Just one year later, though, they announced their engagement and quickly became one of the hottest couples in Europe. Victoria was a member of the successful Spice Girls, while David's career in football was blooming.
Victoria and David married in 1999, and four-month-old son Brooklyn served as ringbearer. The couple later welcomed two more sons: Romeo James and Cruz David as well as daughter Harper Seven.
Both David and Victoria have established themselves as successful businesspersons capable of establishing and managing several areas of interest. Aside from his football career, David has served as a model; Victoria has had a successful music career as well as being the designer for Rock & Republic before developing her own denim brand, dVb Style.
David retired from football and is enjoying spending more time with his family. He told BBC Breakfast that he frequently makes Victoria cups of tea while she works on designs for her fashion line. The two have been relatively quiet about their relationship but decided to take the opportunity to speak in Vogue as a rare opportunity.
