'Vikings' Season 4 Spoilers: Bjorn Will Betray Ragnar?
Irish-Canadian historical drama series "Vikings" is set to return in 2016. After a third season filled with the deaths of important characters and major shifts in power among the Vikings and their foe, the television series returns with a Season 4 that will reveal legendary Norse hero Ragnar Lothbrok's (Travis Fimmel) and his first wife Lagertha's (Katheryn Winnick) fates, see a new generation of Lothbroks rise, and show brother fighting brother for power.
After Ragnar's brush with death at the end of Season 3, fans breathed a collective sigh of relief. But is the Viking really in the clear? Fimmel talked about Ragnar's experience and how it changed the character, saying, "He got very close to death and becomes very intrigued by death." The actor added: "His fascination with death is like Odin's. Odin hanged himself to experience that feeling."
Will Ragnar's fascination cause him to become reckless and end up costing him his life? Season 4 will see Ragnar returning to Paris to finish the siege - a move that will have him facing his brother Rollo (Clive Standen).
There has also been talk that with Ragnar gone, his son Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) could take over. However, as Fimmel told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year, "Bjorn is the only one who isn't into the power as much as the others." He added: "He's not into the earldom as much; he's not jealous of anything. His motives are only for the people and not for gods and power and status."
But whether or not he takes over leadership of the Vikings, Bjorn will be taking on a new role. According to Zap2It, Ludwig said: "When he finally has his daughter, he has something in him to fight for. I'm not a father but seeing that baby, it was an amazing scene."
No official release date has been announced for "Vikings" Season 4, but it will return sometime in 2016.
