'Vikings' Season 5: Lagertha Gets a 'New Chair'
As the production for "Vikings" season 5 continues, the cast and the crew help fans get by the wait by sharing behind-the-scenes photos from the new season.
Katheryn Winnick is one who likes to keep fans up to date through social media. Recently, she shared a BTS photo of herself as Lagertha sitting on her "new chair."
The image suggests that Lagertha might be in control in "Viking" season 5, although it is believed that this throne is for the photoshoot for the new season.
Those who are familiar of History Channel's approach in promoting the series would know that this could be Winnick taking a portrait for new promotional images for the show.
The cast will look very different come "Vikings" season 5 with Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) out of the picture. His death will, of course, be the driving force of the story still.
With Ragnar gone, fans wonder what could become of the show. Creator Michael Hirst revealed to Variety that nothing much has changed.
"Honestly, I think people did think when Travis died everything would change and yet on we went, the machine went on, we had so many great new actors."
He said that he is "pretty sure" that even without the main character that fans have been following in "Vikings" in the last four season, they can go for two more seasons.
"I could tell you things that would blow your mind — things we've shot in Season 5 are amazing. I think we will be able to end the show the way we intended to," Hirst said.
"Vikings" season 5 will also flesh out new character Heahmund (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), introduced in the season 4 finale. The warrior bishop will be pit against Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh). He is one of the precursors of the Knights Templar, who, while deeply religious, also know how to get bloody and berserk in the battlefield.
"They were very clever, very well-educated, but they were warriors, they would go into battle against spiritual opponents, like pagans," Hirst explained.
"Vikings" season 5 is expected to premiere later this year on History.
