'Voltron' Season 5 News: Will Lotor Switch Sides?
"Voltron" season 4 is up on Netflix, and at first glance, it looks to be the logical continuation of where the third run ended. The current run ends with a bombshell, however, setting things up for a very interesting season 5.
Lotor (voiced by AJ Locasio), even as son and heir of Emperor Zarkon (voiced by Neil Kaplan), always had that tendency to forge his own path. He stops at nothing to do that, too, even going as far as taking advantage of his father getting incapacitated, and eventually pulling off a rescue of Voltron, as ScreenRant recaps.
By the looks of it, Lotor is cobbling together what remains of the trans-dimensional comet that King Alfor used to create Voltron to make his own giant super robot. He was well on his way to his goal, too, until Haggar decided to tattle on him to his father.
It won't be the first time that Voltron and Lotor had reluctantly worked together, as there is that time when the Paladins came to the aid of someone being attacked by Zarkon. The crew was testing out Voltron's stealth system for the first time, and in the process, found out that it's the emperor's own son that they have rescued.
By the end of season 4, however, Lotor is on the run, having been betrayed by his own generals. It's at that moment that he chooses to make a beeline for Haggar, blasting her shields and disrupting her plans of obliterating Naxzela, as Collider recaps.
Bold as ever, Lotor watches Haggar flee alongside the Paladins of Voltron. The prince turns to them and says "I think it's time we had a discussion," ending the fourth season and setting an interesting stage for season 5.
All episodes of "Voltron" season 4 are now available for streaming on Netflix.
