'Warcraft' Movie News: Video Game-Inspired Movie Looks Promising
As of this writing, the international trailer for Duncan Jones' adaptation of the hit video game "Warcraft" has already been taken down from YouTube. Nonetheless, this doesn't stop those who have already seen it from talking about the game's apparently impressive movie version.
Basing on the now-taken-down trailer on YouTube, it is certain that fans of the game can look forward to Orcs and humans joining forces together in preparation for an epic battle to ensure that their future is protected. The trailer also gives the viewers a closer look at the characters of Medivh and Garona, played by Ben Foster and Paula Patton respectively. Many have said that Patton's Garona carry an undeniable resemblance to a "Guardian's of the Galaxy" character, incidentally, with the same name.
Apart from the striking resemblance of "Warcraft's" Garona character to that of the "Guardians of the Galaxy," there were also who opined that the trailer suggests that the movie also shares some similarities with other fantasy world-themed movie, specifically "The Lord of the Rings" and "Hobbit." With this, it is believed that "Warcraft" aims at luring the same group of audience that the said blockbusters have.
"The peaceful realm of Azeroth stands on the brink of war as its civilization faces a fearsome race of invaders: Orc warriors fleeing their dying home to colonize another. As a portal opens to connect the two worlds, one army faces destruction and the other faces extinction. From opposing sides, two heroes are set on a collision course that will decide the fate of their family, their people and their home. So begins a spectacular saga of power and sacrifice in which war has many faces, and everyone fights for something," goes the synopsis of the movie.
On the whole, the movie bodes well for a coherent entertainment, which many other video games based movies fell short of in the past.
"Warcraft" hits the movie theaters on June 10.
