Warner Bros. Reveals 'Annabelle: Creation' Blu-Ray and DVD Details, Release Date
Fans of "Annabelle: Creation" will now be able to catch their favorite horror movie on Blu-ray and DVD. Warner Bros. recently announced that the prequel to the first "Annabelle" movie, which was directed by John R. Leonetti, would be released on both platforms and revealed some more details.
Directed by "Lights Out" director David F. Sandberg, "Annabelle: Creation" was one of the most favorably received movies in the "Conjuring" universe, grossing $297.2 million as of Oct. 1 at the global box office. The movie garnered mostly satisfactory reviews by critics, contrary to its predecessor "Annabelle," which earned a little more than $256 million worldwide and received mostly negative reviews. The prequel was a win for Warner Bros., which spent only $15 million for its production.
Due to "Annabelle: Creation's" success, the studio has decided to release it both on Blu-ray and DVD after its theatrical run, which will allow fans to watch their favorite creepy doll again and again in the comfort of their own homes.
The Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD will arrive on Oct. 24. Prior to that, it will have an early digital release on the 20th. The Blu-ray Combo Pack will contain special features, including "The Horror Continues," "Horror Shorts: Attic Panic and Coffer," Director's Commentary, Directing Annabelle and a Deleted Scenes Featurette.
Although the movie was well-received by both moviegoers and critics, some noticed some plot holes in it, particularly one where the death of one significant character left the rest of them reacting as if they were unconcerned. Recently, one fan took to Twitter to ask director Sandberg about it, and the director simply said: "People die all the time, you still need to sleep."
It remains to be seen if these plot holes will be addressed in the upcoming Blu-ray and DVD releases.
"Annabelle: Creation" picks up after the tragic death of a couple's daughter. After a number of years, the husband and wife open their home to some orphan girls and a nun. However, the guests later on become the victims of Annabelle, the doll maker's possessed creation.
