Washington Capitals vs New York Islanders Live Stream: Watch Online NHL Playoffs
It's Game 5 in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoff match-up between the Washington Capitals and the New York Islanders. The match is on April 23, 2015 at 7 p.m. ET at the Verizon Center.
The series is currently tied 2-2 and has been one of the more exciting match-ups in the first round of the Stanley Cup.
When the series started, New York immediately took the initiative as they took away the home advantage with a dominating 4-1 win.
The match was close after the first period but in the second and third, the Islanders were able to score goals that Washington could not respond to.
However, in the second game, Washington adjusted and were able to win another high-scoring game with a 4-3 win, splitting the first two games and also giving their home crowd something to cheer about.
Things started to tighten up in the third game when the scene shifted to New York as both teams found it more difficult to score, but New York held their ground and won 2-1 in overtime thanks to a goal from John Tavares in only 15 seconds of the extra period.
With a chance to go 3-1 up in the series, the Islanders played Game 4 at home but saw themselves trailing in the first period. An Alex Ovechkin goal gave the Capitals a lead but it was equalized by Casey Cizikas with less than 13 seconds left in the period. When there were no more goals in regulation, the match went to overtime for the second straight time, but this time Nicklas Backstrom provided the winner for the Capitals to steal a game away from home and tie the series 2-2.
Game 5 will be very crucial as this series goes down to a best-of-3 match-up. The winner will only need one more to move on to the next round.
