Washington Redskins NFL Trade Rumors: Redskins Finally Contact Pierre Garçon
Washington Redskins head coach, Jay Gruden, has been talking about how he wants to bring Pierre Garçon back to the fold for the 2017 season, but the team is going to have a hard time convincing the wide receiver to re-sign with them if they don't even give him a call.
According to Breaking Burgundy's Ben Standig, the Redskins have finally reached out to Garçon's camp, but sources say the odds of him returning are not that good.
Last month, the receiver hinted that he doesn't think the team wants him back. And in an interview with Pat McAfee on his "The Pat McAfee Show" podcast last week, he also revealed that the Redskins didn't even bother to contact him during the offseason. Well, it's safe to say their relationship is more than a little strained right now. He's even mocking the Redskins on Twitter right now.
During the interview with McAfee, Garçon said it doesn't really matter where he plays, but he believes that he fits in with "any team that needs a veteran receiver, just to plug in and make that Super Bowl run."
He also admitted that he has heard the rumors linking him to the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers.
"Everyone's connecting me to the L.A. Rams because Sean McVay, our ex-offensive coordinator is there. And Kyle Shanahan, the ex-offensive coordinator for the Falcons, is in San Francisco, so they're saying that," he said on the podcast, according to the Washington Post.
Aside from the Rams and 49ers, sources believe the Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles and Arizona Cardinals are potential suitors as well.
Meanwhile, ESPN's John Keim has reported that Garçon actually asked for a trade last season. "Once it didn't happen we respected it. We respect their interest and we were definitely interested in returning," his agent, Brad Cicala, told Keim.
