Washington Wizards Forward Markieff Morris to Undergo Sports Hernia Surgery
Markieff Morris' offseason has gone from bad to worse.
The six-foot-ten forward and his brother, Marcus, are already facing assault charges stemming from an incident back in 2015, and if found guilty, it's possible that they may face a maximum of nearly four years in prison.
Under the National Basketball Association's (NBA) collective bargaining agreement, a player convicted of a violent felony must serve a minimum 10-game suspension, so he will also have to deal with that when he returns.

Morris has a lot on his mind right now and he's expected to miss the start of training camp due to the case. But it appears that he's also dealing with an injury and he will have to go under the knife to get it fixed.
According to the Washington Post's Candace Buckner, Morris is scheduled to undergo surgery this Friday to repair a sports hernia and he may have to miss the entire training camp, the preseason and possibly the start of next season as well.
"Though the precise timeline for his return won't come into focus until after the procedure, Morris, according to a league source, is expected to miss a month, which would cause him to miss at least a few games. During that stretch, the Wizards will surely feel the absence of a much-needed, 6-foot-10 rebounder, as well as a durable and dependent player," Buckner said in her report.
In 76 games last season, Morris averaged 14 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.1 steals while playing 31.2 minutes a game. He also shot 45.7 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from beyond the three-point line.
His numbers aren't really that impressive, but he's an important member of the team because of his ability to stretch the floor.
With Morris on the sidelines, Jason Smith and Mike Scott may get some significant minutes at the power forward position.
