Washington Wizards Roster, Injury News 2017: Forward Markieff Morris Expected to Return by the End of the Week

Washington Wizards forward Markieff Morris is expected to make his return to the court later this week.

According to the Washington Post's Tim Bontemps, Wizards head coach Scott Brooks has confirmed that Morris would practice with the team this Tuesday and he might be available for their game against the Phoenix Suns this Wednesday.

Well, Brooks clearly made that comment before the National Basketball Association (NBA) announced that Morris has been suspended for one game without pay after he left bench area during an altercation between teammate Bradley Beal and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green on Friday, Oct. 27.

The seventh-year pro will have to serve his suspension in the next game he is able to play, so he can't possibly suit up for the Wizard when they play the Suns. The earliest he can return is their home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, Nov. 3.

Leaving the bench area to join an altercation is never a good idea since it's not allowed, but Morris' twin brother, Boston Celtics forward Marcus Morris, said he understood why he did it.

"It's an instinct type of thing," Marcus said on Monday before the Celtics played against the San Antonio Spurs, via MassLive.

"Him and Bradley are really close," he continued. "I know it was bad that he got suspended. But it happens, you know? I probably would have done the same thing," he added.

In any case, Morris thinks he's ready to play and the Wizards are finally getting their starting power forward back.

"We're just going through protocol. Everybody's body is different. Mine, I feel like it healed a little faster than normal and I'm just ready to go now," Morris stated, via the Washington Post.

Morris has been out since he underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia in September, and Kelly Oubre Jr. has been starting in his place.
