Waymo News: Google's Self-Driving Car May be Released Next Year

Waymo may begin driving as soon as this fall according to two sources who are familiar and close to the matter in an interview with The Information. This is considered to be an ambitious target for Google.

When the company tested the car's functionality earlier this year, the drivers sometimes had to take over the steering wheel to prevent a traffic jam because the Waymo would stop in the middle of the round until users were able to respond to the car's requests.

Modern day technology has made several things possible. From virtual reality to electric vehicles, the current century is seeing an increase in activity for developing the new and innovative technology. One such technology is Google's self-driving car, called Waymo, and recent reports have revealed that it might hit the streets sooner than expected.

Furthermore, many believe that the leaked information could indicate that Google is close to refining the technology behind their self-driving car, which they claim to be perfect for a safety level that humans cannot achieve. Given that Waymo may be driving on its own by this fall, fans are expecting to see it on sale sometime in 2018, with Google spending the remaining months of this year perfecting the technology.

Waymo's current problem is the fact that it has an incomplete repertoire in troubleshooting some of the problems that it encounters, which is why it still needs human intervention in order to keep the motor running.

Google has yet to announce a solution for the problem, but fans are expecting to have more details before the year ends. Regardless, Google will have to make sure that Waymo is prepared to ensure global safety once it hits the streets. Considering that their goal is to make a driverless car, Google might have to speed things up if they want to release Waymo by next year.
