'Wayward Pines' News: Epic Season on the Way
Executive producers M. Night Shyamalan and Donald De Line teased on a few things that fans should expect when the psychological thriller returns.
Following the twisted and hanging finale of "Wayward Pines," the executives have revealed that season two will definitely be one epic and tension-filled installment for fans who have been following the story.
In an exclusive talk with Entertainment Weekly, executive producers M. Night Shyamalan and Donald De Line teased on a few things that fans should expect when the psychological thriller returns.
The first season ended with a new command that took over Wayward Pines. While many questioned where the story will lead now that a new administration has taken over the strange town, De Line explained that "Where we originally thought it could end was actually an opportunity for a great new beginning for us."
De Line was referring to Jason Patric's Dr. Theo Yedlin. The doctor found himself trapped in the town's civil war and though he still doesn't understand the odd rebellion, it is expected that he will possibly turn out to be one of the characters who will help save the townspeople.
For Shyamalan, Patric's addition to the cast is a "beautiful, artistic choice for Wayward Pines," adding that the new storyline is something that opened doors for production to move "like a bullet" until the end comes.
It is worth noting that many fans questioned how season two will become now that Matt Dilon's Ethan Burke has been killed off. His loss was too destructive for some, raising concerns about where the upcoming installment will pick up on.
Aside from Dr. Yedlin, another character will be introduced formally in the second season. It is unclear what exactly the role of Djimon Hounsou's C.J. Mitchum will be, but according to Inquistr, he knows everything that's been going on in the creepy village, including the secret of the Abbies that turned the lives of the people around.
It is expected that many other questions will be answered soon, especially regarding the future of mankind. While there is not much to be told before the season premieres, the executives vow to deliver sequences that will mark the heart of television.
"Wayward Pines" Season 2 airs on Wednesday, May 25, at 9 p.m. ET on Fox.
