'Wayward Pines' Season 2 Preview Released, Slated to Return in Spring
Psychological, mind-bending thriller "Wayward Pines" is returning to the small screen soon for its second season. According to a report by Coming Soon, season 2 of last summer's number one scripted series based on Blake Crouch's best-selling trilogy of novels "Pines" will premiere on Wednesday, May 25 on FOX.
And to bring the hype up among the fans, the network has released during the WonderCON the first featurette video of the upcoming series. It featured Crouch and executive producers M. Night Shyamalan and Donald De Line ("The Sixth Sense," The Visit) wherein they talked about what the sophomore installment will be all about when it starts airing this summer.
The stars that will be part of the show are also revealed and it includes Jason Patric ("Rush," "Narc") who will play as surgeon Dr. Theo Yedlin, two-time Academy Award nominee Djimon Hounsou ("Blood Diamons") as CJ Mitchum and Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominee Hope Davis ("The Newsroom"), reprising her role as Megan Fisher.
Season 2 will pick up after the events from the first season and this time the bratty First Generation will take over the town of Wayward Pines. Design and Trend detailed that Ben Burke (Charlie Tahan) will wake up to find out that David Pilcher (Toby Jones) has been named as a pioneer while his father Ethan (Matt Dillon) has been deemed as a traitor. As for his mother Theresa (Shannyn Sossaman) and Pam Pilcher (Melissa Leo), they are put to cryogenic sleep.
And just like in the first season, Dr. Theo will find himself in the mysterious town which is seen in the featurette to have imposed martial law as the residents are defying against the domain of the First Generation. The frightening Abbies are also featured in the video and as revealed, Dr. Theo will later on realize the kind of world that he has stepped in. It's also made known that Dr. Theo has been trying to fix his marriage with his architect wife Rebecca (Nimrat Kaur).
"Wayward Pines" season 2 will have a total of 10 episodes.
