'Wayward Pines' Season 2 Renewed or Canceled? New Season Being Debated After Season 1 Finale

Fans of the thriller series "Wayward Pines" have only one question—is there going to be another installment to the series? The 10-episode American television series just ended its first season last month and fans are expecting for a season two. But it seems like a follow-up of the show is not going to take place anytime soon as FOX has not yet commented or announced anything about it.

Executive producer Chad Hodge also stated his thoughts already about going for another season. Although the first season had a lot of cliffhangers and unanswered questions, Hodge told Entertainment Weekly that it was the end and the show went into full circle.

"It was not meant to tease a season 2 … Just as Ethan woke up in episode one and found himself in this strange town of Wayward Pines in a hospital bed with a nurse standing above him, and then he walks up Main St. to find this strangely odd town and people staring at him, it's actually partly shot-for-shot exactly what we did in the first episode as Ben comes up Main St. and sees people staring at him," said Hodge.

But hopes for a season two have been emerging. FOX's Dana Walden said during the TV Critics Association Summer Press Tour that director M. Night Shyamalan and the author of the book series Blake Crouch are discussing the possibilities.

"Perhaps it would be another miniseries event … If the author can lay in the future book series," Walden said.

The thriller drama series is about U.S. secret service agent Ethan Burke (played by Matt Dillon) who arrives in Wayward Pines to search for two missing federal agents. As for now, fans will just have to wait if a continuation of the story will happen or not.
