'Wentworth' Season 5: With Kaz as New Top Dog, Can Bea's Death Be Avenged?
The long wait is almost over for fans of the Australian prison drama series "Wentworth," which is set to premiere its fifth season next week. And even though the former main protagonist, Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack), has already died, it seems that she will still be the strongest driving force of the upcoming installment.
All eyes will be on Joan "The Freak" Ferguson (Pamela Rabe), the former Governor of Wentworth Correctional Center, now fallen from grace and facing judgment for having been instrumental in the death of Bea in the final episode of season 4. She may not have intended to kill the grieving inmate, but she held the screwdriver that took Bea's life.
In a teaser trailer for the upcoming season premiere, Bea's partner Allie Novak (Kate Jenkinson) vows to take revenge for her lover's death by killing Ferguson in turn. It can be remembered that Bea previously thought Allie had died, which drove her to kill herself by Ferguson's hand in order to make the latter pay for what she did to Allie.

But as it turned out, Allie survived her close bout with death and will now be putting Ferguson's fate in her own hands. Fortunately, she will not be alone in this battle as everybody else whom The Freak has wronged in the past will be banding together to take her down. A sneak peek also hints that the prison wardens may even be willing to turn a blind eye.
However, new top dog Karen "Kaz" Proctor's (Tammy Macintosh) new rules include a directive not to hurt nor talk to Ferguson. But this can only hold the vengeful Allie back for so long, which could, in turn, endanger her life and put her head on the chopping block this season.
"Wentworth" season 5 premieres on Tuesday, April 4 on Showcase.
