'Westworld' Season 2 Release Date, Cast News: Series Helps HBO Now Reach Two Million Domestic Subscribers

"Westworld" was one of HBO's most popular shows last year, and it has even become the most-watched first season in the history of the network, surpassing the likes of "Game of Thrones" and "The Sopranos." The show has already garnered a lot of attention, and it looks like HBO can also thank "Westworld" for a huge increase in subscriptions for HBO Now.

During a conference call this week, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes told investors that the standalone digital streaming service has now surpassed two million domestic subscribers, and it is largely because of series like "Westworld" and "Game of Thrones."

The show was so popular that nobody was really that surprised when it was renewed for a second season last November. However, fans might have to wait for a while before it premieres.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly last year, HBO's programming president Casey Bloys revealed that season 2 will probably return in 2018.

"My suspicion is sometime in 2018 because of how big the world is and what goes into shooting it. So I don't have a date exactly – they're going to have to map it out and write the scripts — but my guess is sometime in '18."

Meanwhile, Ed Harris has already confirmed that he'll be back in the second season to play the Man in Black.

"Yeah, you know, as a matter of fact, I was just talking to Jonah Nolan last night, who's a creator of this thing with his wife Lisa Joy, and yeah, they're doing another season," he said. "They're going to do ten more episodes, and I will be involved," he said, according to Slash Film.

The rest of the cast haven't been announced yet, but sources believe that Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, and Jeffrey Wright should return to portray Dolores, Teddy, Maeve, and Bernard, respectively.

Dolores shot Ford (Anthony Hopkins) in the finale, but some fans believe that he's still alive. Well, viewers will have to wait until 2018 to find out the truth.
