What Would Meghan Markle's Title Be If She Does Marry Prince Harry?
Rumors that Prince Harry and actress Meghan Markle will be tying the knot soon are heating up.
According to Metro, Meghan already met Queen Elizabeth on Mother's Day. She and Harry are also reportedly planning to move in together soon. For many fans, this signifies that the British royal is definitely serious with the "Suits" star. The two have been going out for a year now, making the relationship official last autumn.
In October of last year, whispers of the two dating surfaced. Harry had reportedly introduced his girlfriend to Prince Charles. By November, Harry's rep issued a statement on his romance with the American actress.
"Prince Harry is worried about Ms. Markle's safety and is deeply disappointed that he has not been able to protect her. It is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm. He knows commentators will say this is 'the price she has to pay' and that 'this is all part of the game'. He strongly disagrees. This is not a game - it is her life and his," the statement reads.
Since then, the couple has been spotted on dates together, even going on a vacation to the Norwegian fjords in January. Harry has also introduced Meghan to his sister-in law, Kate, and niece, Charlotte. His brother, Prince William, is said to be very supportive of the relationship.
An engagement is reportedly the only thing missing. If Meghan does marry Harry, Elle UK reports that she will not be called Princess Meghan since she is not born royal. Just like Kate, Meghan will likely take a different designation, most likely the Duchess of Sussex.
Technically, Meghan will be "Her Royal Highness Princess Henry of Wales" the moment she weds the prince. But since she is no blue blood, she will more likely be called a duchess than a princess. The Duke of Sussex title has been available since 1843. Harry is said to be claiming the title if he marries her.
