Where will 'Mr. Robot' go in Season 2?
"Mr Robot" became a critically acclaimed series in its first season itself. The whole premise of the series is very different from other series. It is deep, disturbing but at the same time, refreshing. The second season was already green lighted. The finale of "Mr Robot" was so different and unexpected that it could have easily lead to different scenarios.
By the time season 1 was over, the story became clear. "Mr Robot", brilliantly played by Christian Slater, actually exists only inside Elliot's head. So once this is revealed, what would happen to Christian Slater's role?
According to Variety, Sam Esmail, creator and showrunner of "Mr Robot" says "We're going to be seeing him a lot. The show is about this relationship. The show is about a guy discovering in fact that he has dissociative identity disorder, and we're with him as he's discovering that, and what do you do … as you realize your personality is starting to fragment away from you."
The opening season of "Mr Robot" has Rami Malek playing the role of the troubled hacker, Elliot, who wants to destroy Evil Corp. He succeeds and comes up against two enemies - played by Michael Cristofer and BD Wong. FSociety completes its mission, they destroyed 'Evil Corp' and took down their data and it was revealed that White Rose, played by BD Wong, is actually a foe rather than a friend.
However there is one character about whom we are kept in suspense. What happens to Tyrell whom Elliot had reluctantly befriended? Also the finale starts three days after the penultimate episode. This time break is deliberate as we are left wondering what Elliot was up to during those three days.
All these are fantastic plot points to take Season 2 forward.
Esmail also spoke to Entertainment Weekly about these plot points. He said, "All of that sets up really interesting questions for the second season. Now it's not about this mystery within himself that Elliot's trying to resolve. Now it's grown more external. He's aware of what's going on inside of him, and it's leaking out. How's he going to deal with that?"
Yes, indeed, how Elliot is going to solve all these puzzling problems is what season two will be about.
"Mr Robot" returns next year on the USA Network.
