Who is Darius Campbell? From Pop Idol to Hollywood Producer

For starters, Darius Campbell is a Scottish singer-songwriter who is also known as Darius Danesh or simply Darius. He also had a stint in Broadway, playing Billy Flynn in the West End production of "Chicago," Sky Masterson in "Guys and Dolls," and Rhett Butler in the 2008 theatrical adaptation of "Gone With the Wind."

Recently, Campbell produced the action thriller "Imperium," which starred Daniel Radcliffe ("Harry Potter") in the lead role as an undercover FBI agent. The movie was received well, but even Campbell himself could not believe it because of the challenging processes he went through.

Before being a stage actor and Hollywood producer, however, Campbell was first known as a pop singer who was discovered for his rendition of Britney Spears' "Hit Me Baby One More Time" on the singing competition "Popstars." He later became a finalist of the "Pop Idol" competition in 2002 alongside Gareth Gates and Will Young.

He was offered a contract by Simon Cowell but turned him down and signed up with Steve Lillywhite instead.

His hit single "Colourblind" was released in 2002, and it climbed to the top of the singles chart back then. He went on to produce two albums titled "Dive In" in 2002 and "Live Twice" in 2004.

"Dive In" produced the hit songs "Rushes" and "Incredible (What I Meant to Say)," while the album "Live Twice" included the hit singles "Kinda Love" and "Live Twice." His first album was more successful, reaching the 4th spot in album charts while the second one only reached the 36th spot.

Aside from that, Campbell penned his own book in 2003, titled "Sink or Swim," which detailed his experiences in the music industry.

Furthermore, Campbell is also a charity ambassador for The Prince's Trust - an organization committed to helping out young, disadvantaged people.

His involvement with the organization started early on in his career, tracing back to his Pop Idol days where he raised around £300,000 for the charity through gigs.

Campbell married Canadian actress Natasha Henstridge ("Species") in 2011, but the couple divorced in 2013. Recent reports, however, indicate that the two might be rekindling their romance, as the couple were seen having a romantic dinner in August 2016.
