'Will & Grace' Reboot Plot News: Expect a Debbie Reynolds Tribute

NBC is all set for the "Will & Grace" reboot this fall. Cast members Eric McCormack (Will), Debra Messing (Grace), Sean Hayes (Jack) and Megan Mullally (Karen) are making the rounds on television to promote the return of the show after 10 years.

The show recently graced a panel at the Tribeca TV festival to discuss what viewers should anticipate in the reboot. Co-creator Max Mutchnick confirmed that there will be a tribute for Debbie Reynolds in one of the episodes.

Reynolds played Grace's mom, Bobbie Adler, on "Will & Grace" and recurred in a dozen episodes from 1999 to 2006. Mutchnick described the Hollywood legend as someone who embraced a bawdy personality, which she imbibed in her character.

The producer recounted his hilarious discussion with Reynolds about Bobbie's fiery red wig.

"I said, 'Hey...will you let us dye your hair red? She said, 'Dye my hair red? I have two hairs on my body, one's on my head, one's on my p—y and they're both gray," Muchnik recalled.

Reynolds died on Dec. 28, 2016, just days after the demise of her real-life daughter "Star Wars" icon Carrie Fisher. Messing paid respects to her TV mom in a heartfelt Instagram post upon her death.

Meanwhile, the cast promised that the "Will & Grace" reboot will be a progressive show, just like its original run. But it will also be an offensive series in that they will make sure they won't be playing things safe and boring in this comedy show.

"We don't want to hold back from anything, and that's what we're doing," Messing told Entertainment Weekly. Political and social commentaries have always been part of the show's DNA and this is what clicks with the show's followers.

The "Will & Grace" reboot begins its run on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 9:00 p.m. on NBC. This is technically its 10th season, which will have 13 episodes. Another batch of 16 episodes will air next year for season 11.
