'Will & Grace' Revival Cast News, Air Date: Bobby Cannavale to Reprise Role as Will's Ex-Boyfriend

The upcoming "Will & Grace" revival has added another familiar name to its cast list, "Boardwalk Empire" alum Bobby Cannavale.

Cannavale is no stranger to "Will & Grace." He previously played a cop named Vince D'Angelo who was also Will's (Eric McCormack) ex-boyfriend. Cannavale won an Emmy Award for his guest starring role in the original run of the show.

Debra Messing, who plays one-half of the titular duo, confirmed the news herself via an Instagram photo that showed Cannavale on the set of "Will & Grace."

Vince was last seen happily married to Will in the season 8 fast-forward finale. But since the revival is completely ignoring that series ender, it is unknown how Cannavale's character fits into the picture. Grace's ex-husband Leo Markus, played by Harry Connick Jr., will also be appearing in the highly anticipated revival.

As McCormarck previously previewed, the gang is back together and have fallen into their usual ways. "Will and Grace are living together. Jack's across the hall. Karen's still rich. We just get back to business," he said.

Apart from Cannavale, Minnie Driver will also be returning to reprise her role as Lorraine Finster, Karen's (Megan Mullally) enemy who later on became her stepdaughter. Unfortunately, Karen's maid, Rosario, will not be appearing. The fan-favorite character was played by Shelley Morrison, who has decided to retire from acting.

There will also be some new faces joining the show. Kyle Bornheimer is set to appear as Lenny, a security guard who will be seen in the premiere episode. Ben Platt is also going to be guest starring in an episode. Platt is known for starring in the "Pitch Perfect" movies and in the Broadway play "Dear Evan Hansen." He received a Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his role in the latter.

The "Will & Grace" revival will premiere on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
