Will.i.am's Standalone Smartwatch Dial Now Available for Pre-Order in the U.K.
The new smartwatch by Will.i.am has arrived. According to a report by The Verge, the standalone smartwatch dubbed as the Dial is now available for pre-order in the U.K. It's considered to be an updated version of the previous smartwatch called Puls which former Black Eyed Peas musician and producer Will.i.am also introduced to the tech market.
But unlike the Puls which failed to set hearts racing, the Dial is set to work as a smart wrist device that may just be the thing that people will want. As noted in Android Authority, the new smartwatch functions without having the need to tether it to a smartphone. It also vaunts a free music streaming feature and will be exclusively available through the British network provider Three.
The price starts at £19, which is roughly $28 american or AU$36, up front. It will then be followed with a two-year contract at approximately £25 per month or $35 in the U.S. and AU$45 in Australia. But there is no word yet on whether the device will be coming outside of the U.K., but if it does, interested consumers will have to watch out for its release in other markets. GSM Arena also noted that the plan includes 500 MB data and 100 minutes of talk time each month. But there are other plan options available.
In terms of its specifications, the Dial smartwatch features a 1.63-inch square 320 x 320 touch display. It also comes with a Snapdragon 400 processor and a 2 GB of RAM along with an internal storage of 32 GB. The device is also equipped with an 800mAh battery and runs with Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. Moreover, it can take snaps with its 2-megapixel front facing camera.
It also flaunts a software called AneedA which is the virtual assistant of the watch. It can used to call friends, play music, keep track of health and send text messages. Shipping for the device will start on May 13.
