Will Smith Shaves Head for 'Suicide Squad' Deadshot Role
Will Smith has been sighted with a shaved head for his role as Deadshot in DC Entertainment's upcoming anti-hero film, "Suicide Squad."
The 46-year-old actor has been spotted in various hats and headgear in Toronto, Canada where the cast is shooting for the film, and on Tuesday, he displayed his smooth pate when he was photographed sitting in a car while talking on his mobile phone.
While the 46-year-old actor normally sports a closely cropped haircut, the shaven head was a departure from his usual look.
Smith plays a villain who's forced to be the good guy in the anti-hero flick based on the DC Comics character, Deadshot, whose real name is Floyd Lawton.
Deadshot originally appeared in the Batman comics during the 1950s as a killer for hire known for his disregard for human life and his iconic red jumpsuit with a metal face plate. One eye of the faceplate is a scope to help him better target his victims.
The face plate may have been the reason for Smith's opting to have his head shaven for the role.
In the movie, one of the world's greatest marksmen, Deadshot, is a hired assassin who works out a deal with a secret government agency in exchange for his freedom from incarceration.
His co-star, Jared Leto, who plays the Joker in "Suicide Squad," has also chopped off his shoulder-length hair and dyed it green in preparation for his own role in the film.
"Suicide Squad," which premieres in theaters August 5, 2016, also stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevigne as the Enchantress, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc, Raymond Olubowale as King Shark, Karen Fukuhara as Plastique, and Jim Parrack as Deathstroke.
