William Goes Back to School; Royal to Study Agricultural Management
Prince William is heading back to school, Kensington Palace announced this week. The prince will study agricultural management at Cambridge University starting next week.
"The executive education program of seminars, lectures and meetings will draw on the strengths of academics across the university. It will start in early January and run until mid-March. The course has been designed to help provide the duke with an understanding of contemporary issues affecting agricultural business and rural communities in the United Kingdom," the Palace said.
His father, Prince Charles, is likely thrilled at the news, given his affection for nature and agriculture. In fact, Charles is actually the patron for the Cambridge Program for Sustainability Leadership; William's courses fall under the program's leadership.
William is expected to live in Cambridge part-time in order to concentrate on his studies but will still carry out his royal duties as scheduled. Duchess Kate and Prince George will stay at Kensington, where they will have the support of nannies and the rest of the royal family, as well as Kate's parents.
This is a time of exploration for William, who resigned from his position in the Royal Air Force as a Search and Rescue helicopter pilot after three years. He and Kate moved into Kensington Palace and have taken on more royal responsibilities, though they have done so separately in order to establish their unique roles within the royal family.
William said that he would take a year off in order to establish himself as a father before deciding what he wanted to dedicate his life, and full-time duties, to doing. He is one of the few royals able to make such a decision and enjoys a great deal of freedom due to his father, Prince Charles, being the first in line to the throne.
The younger prince is reportedly "very much looking forward" to his new classes and yes, even the homework and field trips.
