Windows 10 Fall Creators Update News: Newest Features and Improvements on Microsoft Edge Browser

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update has recently been made available, and the Microsoft Edge browser is one of the applications that benefited from a wide array of improvements and new features.

The changes and improvements applied to the Edge browser were gathered in a dedicated webpage and grouped into four categories for the new features, productivity-focused enhancements, helping users organize their browsing activities, and privacy and security concerns.

Some of the most notable new features added were the option to pin websites to the taskbar as well as browsing in full screen.

To pin a webpage to the taskbar, users should open the site on Edge, select the drop-down menu symbolized by the three dots on the upper right corner of the screen, and look for the "Pin this page to the taskbar" option.

Meanwhile, users only need to look for the Full Screen button on the same drop-down menu to browse the web with no other distractions.

Microsoft also added the option to "set aside" tabs that users might want to look at later or in the following days. To do so, press the button with a left-facing arrow on the upper left corner of the Edge screen.

Productivity

Microsoft also upgraded and added features on the Edge browser to help users "stay productive." However, most of these additions will only be possible after installing various browser extensions.

Edge browser users can now install the Translator extension to instantly translate webpages in other languages. Microsoft also added Mouse Gestures so people can register certain mouse movements -- while pressing right-click -- for commands such as scroll, go back, refresh, close tabs, among others.

On the other hand, no extensions are needed for users to enjoy the new note-taking and marking functions while browsing the web via Edge. Microsoft added an "Add Notes" button on the upper right side of the screen so people can instantly mark, highlight, type comments or notes, clip screenshots with the option to immediately save or share them.

"Stay Organised"

Microsoft has finally added the feature that will allow users to sync their browsing activities on their laptop and other Windows 10 devices. The Fall Creators Update also introduced a "hub" where users can view websites they saved as Favorites as well as their browsing history and downloads.

Security and Privacy

The Windows 10 Fall Creators Update has also added the option to automatically block pop-up screens and tabs while surfing on the internet.

The company also promised: "Microsoft Edge helps protect you from phishing schemes and malicious software while you're online, so you can browse confidently."

Microsoft also introduced the InPrivate windows, which are much like Google Chrome's Incognito tabs and screens.
