Windows 10 News: AMD Accidentally Discloses Release Date
AMD has inadvertently let slip Miscrosoft's upcoming OS, Windows 10 during a quarterly earnings call last Thursday.
Lisa Su, CEO for Advanced Micro Devices, accidentally revealed the launch date for Windows 10 when she answered a question directed at her by an industry analyst, according to The Verge.
"With the Windows 10 launch at the end of July, we're watching, sort of the impact of that on the back-to-school season, and expect that it might have a bit of a delay to the normal back-to-school season inventory build-up," Su said in response to an inquiry about inventory plans.
Microsoft previously announced it was planning to launch Windows 10 in 111 languages and 190 countries this summer, but it hasn't released an official launch date since the latest operating system was unveiled during the company's annual Build Conference last April.
There may be a possibility Lu's information is inaccurate, but the technology company is responsible for providing the graphics drivers and latest GPUs for the Microsoft 10 launch, and is likely privy to the exact date of its release.
While the news of Windows 10's release would be taken in stride by most users, gamers may have another reason to anticipate its coming.
With Microsoft having uncovered its plans for cross-platform capabilities between Windows 10 and Xbox One, the new OS is expected to become a bridge between the two, giving gamers the ability to stream their Xbox One console games to PC. There have also been speculations the streaming may work in reverse.
The new OS is currently expected to be in the final stages of its technical preview, and the computer electronics multinational may officially announced the launch date during this year's Build Conference in San Francisco at the end of the month, together with the unveiling of Project Spartan, the new browser planned to replace Internet Explorer.
