Windows 10 Update Expected to Change PC and Xbox Gaming

The Windows 10 update is set to bring about many key changes in gaming, particularly with the new Xbox App.

Microsoft has outlined a series of changes gamers can expect with the Windows 10 update that will improve gaming among Xbox One console owners who have Windows 10 compatible devices.

While Microsoft was seen as having failed to incorporate gamer-friendly features with Windows 8, it has made amends with its upgraded OS by offering video game players, particularly Xbox One owners, to boost their gaming experience.

Microsoft has built a Game DVR into Windows 10 that allows players to record their conquests easily by pressing the Windows logo key + G to call up the Game Bar recording tool to record and save clips.

Players will now be able to stream Xbox One games to their PC, laptop or tablet if their devices are running on the same network, allowing them to play Xbox One games other than from their TV. For a smoother gaming experience, Microsoft recommends wired connections instead of Wi-Fi, and a device compatible gamepad.

Windows 10 will also manage players' friends lists, activity feed, avatar, achievements, game history, and saved videos, allowing players to access them quickly. The integrated Xbox app will allow players to send messages to fellow gamers, watch clips, and take snapshots of other PC games installed on their console, launching them from the app itself.

The new OS update will, for a limited number of games, allow users to play across platforms. This means they can play Xbox One games against PC players, and vice versa.

Among the other tweaks and upgrades Microsoft has included, the incorporation of DirectX 12 takes full advantage of a system's graphic cards in order to deliver stable, scalable and better-looking games. DirectX 12 is exclusive to the new OS, and is geared at making full use of graphic card access to boost overall game system performance.
