Windows 10's Cortana Now Reminds Users about Promises Made in Emails
Microsoft's virtual assistant Cortana for Windows 10 has been made smarter and will now remind users to keep the promises made in emails.
Cortana for the Windows 10 Insider build will now scan emails for commitments and offer to create an alert. It is worth noting that the user will have to activate the reminder button, so they will not be disturbed by unintended notifications, according to PC World.
If the user does not click the "set reminder" button, Microsoft will not save any email data. However, users can also permanently disable the said feature if they do not want Cortana to remind them about their promises made in emails, the report explains.
In addition, Cortana will now send the user a notification if someone requests for a last-minute meeting, or if a requested appointment goes beyond the usual meeting schedules. This feature allows the user to reschedule a meeting immediately. It will also help users manage their calendar schedules in a more efficient manner, VentureBeat reports.
The Cortana email reminder for Windows 10 Insiders has just launched in the United States. The calendar reminders, on the other hand, are available in the United States and the United Kingdom. The rest of the Windows 10 users are expected to receive the new features soon. As of now, Microsoft still has to determine how to bring the features to Cortana on iOS and Cortana on Android.
Cortana was first revealed as part of the Windows Phone 8.1 in the United States and later on in the United Kingdom, then in other markets. Last year, Microsoft had announced that its virtual assistant will arrive on desktop computers.
So far, Microsoft still has not revealed when Cortana's email and calendar reminders will come to Windows' consumer version. However, users on the Insider Program are expected to be able to use the two new features already.
