'Winds of Winter' news, release date: Did Andy Samberg spill the fate of Jon Snow in 'Winds of Winter?'

Many fans have put on the pressure for George R.R. Martin to hurry up with the release of "Winds of Winter." Although for some time many did not mind that it was taking a while for Martin to finish the next installment since the series was still well in line with the timeline of the books, followers immediately changed tune when they realized they had no more guide for the upcoming season.

One of the biggest questions everyone wants an answer to is whether Jon Snow is still alive. It is definitely the one thing why the lack of books is becoming increasingly frustrating since even if the show deviated from the book every now and then, it still set expectations on who is actually out of the story and who will more likely make a comeback.

According to News Everyday, in the recent Emmy award show, Andy Samberg made a comment in which caused a lot of buzz among "Game of Thrones" aficionados. Samberg joked about how Martin told him what awaits Jon Snow in the future. He said, "Thanks for telling me during the commercial that Jon Snow is alive." While Martin just laughs at a response to this, David Benioff, co-producer of the show, shook his head in a way that seemed to imply that there isn't any fate at all waiting for the beloved character.

It's no surprise that Benioff and Martin won't be on the same page anymore, as it has already been made clear by Martin before that the books and the show will be going their separate ways since the end of the last season. Although they may be heading the same direction, they might be treading their own paths. Martin has always mentioned about having big plans for Jon Snow and so the hope that he lives in the books is still an exciting thought for many. Before Jon Snow was killed, Martin shares, "Yes, I always had plans, what Tyrion's arc was gonna be through this, what Arya's arc was gonna be through this, what Jon Snow's arc is gonna be."

There is still no release date set for "Winds of Winter," but it is suspected around early 2016.
