'Winds of Winter' Release Date News: Will George R.R. Martin Release Two Westeros Books In 2018?

Fans of "Game of Thrones" and "A Song of Ice and Fire" might still have to wait just a little longer before they get their hands on George R.R. Martin's highly-anticipated book "The Winds of Winter."

The 69-year-old novelist and scriptwriter continues his silence regarding the status of the much-awaited book, but speculations claimed that Martin will be able to finish it very soon.

Previous reports claimed that the author was already done writing the book and will possibly come out in 2018.

However, Martin debunked the speculations, claiming that it is still absurd to report that the book is ready for publishing since he is still a long way from finishing it. He also clarified the theories that he has yet to write anything for the book.

"I don't know which story is more absurd, the one that says the book is finished and I've been sitting on it for some nefarious reason, or the one that says I have no pages. Both 'reports' are equally false and equally moronic," the best-selling author stated in his LiveJournal blog.

Martin also teased that fans might find themselves having two new books under the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book saga, saying, "Whether WINDS or the first volume of FIRE AND BLOOD will be the first to hit the bookstores is hard to say at this juncture, but I do think you will have a Westeros book from me in 2018... and who knows, maybe two. A boy can dream."

However, he did not specify when exactly will the book or books will be shipped on the market next year. This could mean that there is a chance to see the seventh and final season of the books' HBO adaptation on the air before the books comes out.

Martin is expected to give more information about the "Winds of Winter" very soon.
