Woman Claims God Told Her to Drive 100 MPH
A woman in Florida told police she was listening to the Holy Spirit after she was stopped by police for traveling over 100 mph on a residential street.
Melissa Miller of Port St. Lucie was speeding down U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce at 1 a.m. Tuesday as her speedometer topped 100 mph while she was traveling in a 30-mph zone.
A police reported indicated that Miller was driving a silver Toyota and was spotted by an officer traveling at a high rate of speed as the officer was sitting idle on the southbound side of the 600 block of U.S. 1.

The police report also stated that the Toyota's horn was engaged and Miller had stuck her arm out the driver's-side window.
During the ensuing pursuit, the officer ordered Miller repeatedly to pull the vehicle over. She did not comply with the officer's orders and instead increased her speed. The arresting officer also explained that during the chase she swerved erratically over two lanes of traffic, nearly hitting two oncoming vehicles and barely missing the curb.
Miller eventually pulled over after she exited U.S. 1 and was immediately approached by several officers who had joined in the pursuit.
When Miller was asked why she was speeding she told the officers that she was speeding "because I was letting the Lord's spirit guide me," according to the police report.
Miller also revealed that the Lord had told her to blow her car horn as she drove 100 miles an hour down U.S. 1. Police did indicate that after she had talked to police that she insisted that she was sorry for her actions, but was aware of exactly how fast she was going.
Miller was taken to the Port St. Lucie County Jail and charged with reckless driving and violation of her probation for leaving the scene of an accident with injuries and was being held on $375 bail.
