'I Didn't Expect It to Go This Fast,' Says Fla. Mother
If a woman gives birth outside a hospital in the U.S., it's rare, as hospitals are not a rarity. However, what made one South Florida mother's birth even more special was the photographer who happened to be there to catch every beautiful moment.
Amy Beth Cavaretta gave birth outside the hospital in Boca Raton, Fla. Thursday before she could make it inside to a bed. Her daughter, Sienna Grace, started coming out quickly, and her husband, Joe, went to grab a wheelchair while she stood outside, unable to move.
"I did not know that I was going to have a baby on the sidewalk," the new mom told the Huffington Post.

Fortunately, the quick birthing of the Cavarettas' second daughter was caught in a series of pictures. Emily Robinson, a Miami birth photographer, had been hired by the couple to capture the birthing process in the hospital. It was just dumb luck that she decided to accompany the parents to the hospital.
"When we pulled up to the hospital, there wasn't any sort of panic— nobody thought the baby was going to come out right then," Robinson said. "The midwife was out there waiting for us, coincidentally, and that's when Amy walked up to the curb and leaned into the pillar and said, 'The baby is coming out.'"
Sienna Grace, who weighs 7 pounds, 4 ounces, was delivered in just under a minute, according to Robinson, who is also a friend of the family. She had been told by Cavaretta that her first labor happened quickly, and that she handled the pain of birth well.
"I had a fast labor with [first daughter] Sophia, only six hours, we all felt this would go a lot faster … but I didn't expect it to go this fast," the mother told The New York Daily News. Amy Beth had been in labor for only about two hours, pushed hard twice while holding on to a wheelchair outside the hospital, and the baby was born.
"It was the first time I ever saw a mother be wheeled into the hospital holding her new baby," Robinson said.
