'Wonder Woman' news, cast, villains: Eva Green and Sean Bean are villain candidates

After "Suicide Squad" wrapped up filming, it's now the turn of "Wonder Woman" to be under scrutiny. In the past weeks, several news surfaced about who's getting on board with production along with possible locations. Now, casting news are making headlines.

Wonder Woman will begin photography this fall. It is an ideal starting date, if Warner Bros. wants to reach its target release date in 2017. However, many are wondering who else will be seen in the film since, for now, only Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Chris Pine as Steve Trevor are confirmed.

According to Screen Rant, the latest update on the cast is the studio's desire to finally choose a villain. From the news, it seems like there are two villains to appear in the movie and the actors eyed for these roles are Sean Bean and Eva Green. It is said that Green is ideal for the part of Circe the Sorceress, while Bean would more likely take on the character of Ares, the God of War.

It hasn't been confirmed if the two are actually already joining the film; there are only talks of possibilities so far. However, if both Green and Bean do join the cast then it seems like Warner Bros. may be setting itself up with a difficult challenge. Both Ares and Circe are immortal beings with numerous powers, and if the two will be joining forces against the Amazonian warrior, then it seems unlikely that she will win.

An option that the story line could take would be how Wonder Woman would tackle the two different villains in separate timelines. It is said that the movie would be showing two periods, first would be during World War I, while the second would be in the Modern Age. If this is the case, then it could work; however, it doesn't sound too exciting for fans if the story line gets compromised only because the studio wanted to cram too much challenges for Wonder Woman on her first movie.

For now, fans will have to await further news and see if they will get to witness Bean and Green in villainous action when Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 23, 2017.
