Recent data mining discoveries also hint that there may be new sub-races included in the next expansion

Numerous rumors are now going around online and pointing to what the next "World of Warcraft" expansion could be, and some of the newer speculations are quite interesting.

First off, there was an image that emerged online just recently that caught the attention of some players, as it seemingly contained the name of the next expansion.

The image can be seen in a report from DVS Gaming, and it suggested that the new expansion may be known as the "Tides of Vengeance."

Now, a find like that would be easy to shrug off most of the time, but there may be some reasons to not completely dismiss the possibility that a "Tides of Vengeance" expansion could really be coming to "World of Warcraft."

Earlier this year, the folks from Wowhead shared that a new armor set was included in a previous Public Test Realm build of Patch 7.3. Interestingly enough, the set was named after the city-state of Kul Tiras.

Notably, the city-state in question was founded upon an island.

If the new expansion really was set on Kul Tiras, then the inclusion of the word "Tides" in its name makes at least some kind of sense.

In possibly related news, a new data mining discovery also hinted that there may be some new sub-race featured in the next expansion.

According to a report from BlizzPlanet, MMO-Champion user "KayRule" managed to find references to new sub-races after using the WDBX Editor to look through the game's client db files.

The sub-races found were the Highmountain Tauren, Lightforged Draenei, Nightborne and the Void Elf.

It is possible that these sub-races may be included in the next expansion as additional character creation options.

Players may be able to hear more about the rumored next expansion soon, especially since "World of Warcraft's" developers are expected to be present at BlizzCon 2017, which will get underway on Nov. 3.
