Wrestlemania 33 News and Updates: Match Between Roman Reigns and The Undertaker Is Now Official
Fans saw it coming, and now, World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. has confirmed that The Undertaker ("The Phenom") and Roman Reigns ("The Big Dog") will go head-to-head at Wrestlemania 33 next month.
The announcement came in Monday morning through the WWE's official Twitter page, and it confirmed the battle between Reigns and The Undertaker at the WWE's biggest annual event. The singles match is set to happen during Wrestlemania 33 on Sunday, April 2, at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, and it will decide who between Reigns and The Undertaker gets the right to call the WWE their "yard."
Previous events have been building up the tension between The Undertaker and Roman Reigns. Their rivalry started back in January at the Royal Rumble match where The Undertaker came in at no. 29. Unfortunately, he was quickly taken out of the match when Reigns entered the game right after him.
As expected, The Undertaker would not let that go that easily. At last week's Monday night RAW, Reigns was called to the ring by Braun Strowman for a match. When Reigns got up to the ring and was giving a speech, The Undertaker's entrance theme started to fill the arena.
Reigns provoked The Undertaker when he addressed the latter and said: "Braun wasn't calling you out here, Deadman, he called me. So with all due respect, this is my yard now." However, The Undertaker was definitely not letting Reigns take his yard just like that. To prove it, The Phenom let out a ruthless chokeslam that immediately knocked out Reigns.
According to fan theories, there is a high possibility that Reigns will win over The Undertaker, which can be interpreted as the elder man passing the torch to the new main player in the league.
The theory was also considered in an official blog post at the WWE website: "Reigns has achieved a stunning number of accolades in WWE at a breakneck pace, but defeating The Undertaker at The Show of Shows would launch him into WrestleMania infamy and solidify his status as 'The Guy.'"
