Writer of Upcoming Han Solo Film Shares Details About Production
Lawrence Kasdan hints about the newest 'Star Wars' film.
With the hype of the iconic franchise "Star Wars" still ongoing, there is much anticipation for the upcoming "Han Solo" film.
After the release of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," fans were sad to see a major character of the "Star Wars" saga go. The film showed the death of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) done by his own son, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver).
The death of Han Solo proved to be a tragic moment for a lot of "Star Wars" fans since he remained to be a vital character in the franchise. Even Daisy Ridley, who played the role of Rey in the recent film, spoke about the sadness that Han Solo's death brought.
She told Big Issue, "You probably have a bigger emotional reaction than reading a newspaper and just seeing facts and figures [because] instead you see someone's life play out, their soul, and the way they react and respond to the world around them...If everybody puts a piece of themselves into Han Solo and Han Solo dies - in the cinema, where it's dark - you can express it, and it alleviates some of the pain. His death is obviously not as important as actual lives that are lost, but people probably use it as some kind of carrier for the grief."
However, it seems as though that will not be the last of the character. It was announced that fans will get to see the character in a new standalone film featuring Han Solo. The project recently acquired writer Lawrence Kasdan, who wrote the script for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
Kasdan recently made an appearance at the AJFF Icon Award, where he received an award for Contributions to Cinematic Arts. After the ceremony, he was able to stare some details about the upcoming film. He shared excitement for the "Han Solo" film, revealing that Chris Miller and Phil Lord are going to direct it.
According to Star Wars News, he said "Oh, I think so! You know, Chris Miller and Phil Lord are going to direct it. They're great, funny and imaginative and we've had a great time together. My son [Jon] and I wrote the script and Chris and Phil are working on it and they're about to move to London to start shooting in January. And it should be fun."
"Han Solo" film is expected to release May 2018.
