Wrong-Way Driver: 4 Killed in Florida Head-On Crash After Police Car Chase (VIDEO, PHOTO)
A wrong-way driver has caused an accident which left 4 killed on Interstate 95 south of Fort Lauderdale on Wednesday, according to reports.
The accident took place early on Wednesday morning according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Authorities have described that police were pursuing a sports utility vehicle when the suspect went northbound on the interstate's southbound lanes.
The wrong-way driver of the SUV ended up crashing into a minivan at Hallandale Beach Boulevard, tragically killing all four occupants, according to The Miami Herald.
The driver of the SUV was not killed in the accident, however, and authorities have described that he was later taken to hospital for emergency medical care. he is believed to have suffered two broken legs in the crash, although he is expected to survive.
Police were pursuing the man from Opa-locka in Miami-Dade County.
The accident caused authorities to immediately close down all southbound lanes of I-95, as investigators carried out their work.
At time of press, none of the victims' names have been released, and it is believed that families and next of kin are being sought prior to public release of their details.
