WWE Latest News 2015: Former broadcaster Jim Ross praises WWE Raw, Talks Alberto Del Rio situation

Former World Wrestling Entertainment commentator Jim Ross had nothing but praise for this week's episode of Monday Night Raw.

In a report by WrestleZone.com, "Good 'Ol JR" commended the WWE for an entertaining show, despite the absence of some of its mainstays, namely Randy Orton and John Cena.

What impressed Ross the most was how the current crop of talent managed to step up in the absence of the company's superstars.

"It seems that talents who are still present realize that the door is open for them to step up and take ownership of the fleeting albeit lucrative top spots in WWE and become permanent residents of the main event neighborhood of the Promised Land."

Cena is currently on an indefinite hiatus, and according to a report by WrestlingInc.com, he is being billed for a December 26th return at a live event at the Madison Square Garden in New York City. In another report by F4Wonline.com, Cena is also being slated for a December 13th appearance at WWE TLC in Boston. Orton, on the other hand, is forced to the sidelines due to a dislocated shoulder.

According to the company's statement on its official website WWE.com, Orton's shoulder had been problematic for a while already, and a return to action is not being foreseen as of the moment.

Ross also talked about the current situation of returning WWE superstar Alberto Del Rio. The Mexican professional wrestling superstar had recently signed a reduced-rate contract with a $1,450,000 per year downside guarantee.

The other issue about Del Rio's comeback was whether he would be returning as a babyface or a heel. And for Ross, it will boil down to the WWE's original decision of signing Del Rio back, and that is to have a "Hispanic fan favorite" on its roster.

"I see ADR turning on the villain Zeb Colter some time soon and becoming the Hispanic fan favorite that WWE desperately needs," Ross said. "It's unfortunate that Alberto wasn't able to keep his commitments to Mexico's AAA after rejoining WWE. That's never a good situation. No one wins in this particular situation."
