WWE Latest News: Vince McMahon Unfazed With Low Ratings, Legend Terry Funk Dislikes Idea Of Rousey Starring In 'Roadhouse' Remake
World Wrestling Entertainment head honcho Vince McMahon remains unfazed by the continuous dip of the company's television ratings.
In a September report by Tech Times, the WWE is currently experiencing its lowest numbers since 1997. The September 21st episode of Monday Night Raw received the said low numbers, considering it aired the day after its 'Night of Champions' pay-per-view event.
Reports have circulated that McMahon is not at all concerned about the drop in ratings. In a report by Bryan Alvarez of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (through scifighting.com), McMahon's calmness may be backed up by the fact that the numbers will be expected to spike up, once superstars John Cena and Brock Lesnar return from their respective time off.
The same report adds that the WWE is indeed planning to have Roman Reigns participate in WrestleMania 32, which is slated for April 2016. This, despite Sheamus' recent victory, where he captured the World Heavyweight championship.
"Vince McMahon reportedly made the call as he feels that fans see Reigns as the corporate pick to be the champion and that is why he is being booed at events," the report reads.
Meanwhile, WWE legend Terry Funk is not happy with having former UFC bantamweight queen Ronda Rousey starring in the remake of the 1989 cult classic "Road House". The original film starred the late Patrick Swayze.
According to a report by the Variety, Rousey did accept the role, but wanted to "be respectful" while doing so. The report adds that "Rowdy" even asked Swayze's widow, Lisa Niemi, for her blessing, which the latter obliged.
However, not everyone is happy with MGM's decision to cast Rousey as the lead character. In a report by Cageside Seats, Funk expressed his disagreement on the matter.
"You've got to be f****** kidding me," Funk said. "Ronda Rousey? Ronda Rousey in the Roadhouse? They're making a remake and I'm not in it and she is? ... That's bull****!"
