WWE Rumors: AJ Styles' Second Run With the WWE Championship May Not Last Long
Styles won the title from Jinder Mahal on the most recent episode of 'SmackDown Live'
AJ Styles, arguably the most popular wrestler in the WWE today, won one of the company's most prestigious championships just recently.
Styles challenged Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship during the most recent episode of "SmackDown Live" and to the surprise of many in attendance and fans watching at home, the former actually managed to emerge victorious.
Given how much the folks over at the WWE have been hyping up the already announced "Champion vs. Champion" match featuring "RAW's" Brock Lesnar and Mahal for "Survivor Series," it seemed safe to assume that nothing would happen to alter that equation. However, Styles' win does exactly that. And now, it is the wrestler known as the "Phenomenal One" who is going to square off against Lesnar.
Many wrestling fans are celebrating Styles' surprising win and are now looking forward to seeing how his second run as "SmackDown's" top guy will play out.
Fans may also want to tune in as early as they can, as recent rumors are hinting that this second title run may not last for that long.
According to a recent edition of Cageside Seats' "Rumor Roundup," Mahal could win the WWE Championship back from Styles as early as next month.
Members of the WWE roster will be touring India this December, and with Mahal expected to be a part of that group, it could make sense for the decision-makers to have him invoke his rematch clause for the WWE Championship while he is in the country in order to get fans in the area more excited.
The folks at the WWE typically do not like to have title changes happen outside of "RAW" and "SmackDown" shows as well as pay-per-views, though they have deviated from that a few times in the past.
Having Mahal reclaim the title from Styles during the India tour could work to get fans in attendance excited, and it could also create a special moment for them and the wrestler himself. With the WWE investing heavily in the Indian market, it also would not really be that surprising if they signed off on a title change happening during the tour.
If the WWE's higher-ups are indeed planning to go down that route, then that could mean that Styles' second run with the title will last for just a month or so.
More news about the latest WWE rumors should be made available soon.
