WWE Rumors: It May Be a While Before John Cena Returns to the Ring

Cena was previously expected to be a part of next month's 'Survivor Series'

The last time John Cena was in a WWE ring, he was on the losing end of a monumental match with current company top guy Roman Reigns. It was an unfortunate outcome for the WWE veteran and his fans, and it left them wondering where things were going next.

Unfortunately, it looks like it will be a while before fans see Cena in the ring again.

While earlier rumors were hinting that Cena may be coming back in time to set up a feud with Bray Wyatt that would culminate in a match at next month's "Survivor Series," it now appears that is no longer the plan.

According to a recent report from 411mania, Cena is no longer being advertised for the aforementioned pay-per-view.

Instead, Cena's next advertised appearances are now scheduled for late December.

It is unclear why Cena has apparently been removed from the "Survivor Series," though the new, advertised window of time for his return seems to suggest that he may be coming back for a different major event on the WWE calendar.

With the annual spectacle known as the "Royal Rumble" scheduled for Jan. 28, that could be the event that Cena targets for his in-ring return.

Cena currently has 16 world championship reigns, a record he shares with the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. The wrestler who wins the "Royal Rumble" match will receive a guaranteed shot at a current world champion, so it would make sense if Cena opts to participate in it.

It is possible that Cena returns just a few weeks before the "Royal Rumble" to set up his participation in the match.

Many wrestling fans will likely be disappointed to learn that Cena is not expected back for a while, but there is a chance that his in-ring return could be worth the wait.
