WWE Rumors: The Recently Reunited Shield May Not Stick Around for That Long

The Shield reunited during the most recent episode of 'Monday Night RAW'

Numerous wresting fans got the reunion they wanted just recently, as Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins stood together once again and announced to the world that The Shield was back.

The Shield ran roughshod through the WWE during their initial stretch that lasted from November of 2012 until June of 2014. During that span, Ambrose, Reigns and Rollins notched victories over a variety of wrestling luminaries, making it clear that The Shield would go down as one of the all-time greatest factions in the history of the WWE.

Now that the group is back together, fans likely want them to dominate the WWE again. It is certainly possible that The Shield will indeed pick up where they left off more than three years ago, but rumors are hinting that this reunion is not going to be a long-term thing.

A recent edition of Cageside Seats' "Rumor Roundup" noted that the reunion was not expected to go past the end of this year. It is already October, which means the reunion may not even last for three months if this rumor pans out.

Considering how much fans have wanted to see this reunion take place, it would seem curious if the decision-makers at the WWE just ended up giving them a condensed version of the original Shield run.

Perhaps this was inevitable, however.

Rumors from earlier this year have hinted that the folks over at the WWE are looking to have Reigns challenge current Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at "WrestleMania 34." It would be hard to set that match up if Reigns was still with his buddies, and perhaps that may be the reason for why the reunion will only last for a short time.

For now, WWE fans may just want to enjoy every single moment produced by this Shield reunion as there is a chance that Ambrose, Reigns and Rollins will go their separate ways again in the near future.
