WWE Rumors: Will 'No Mercy' End Well for the 'Monster Among Men' Braun Strowman?

Strowman will take on Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Championship at 'No Mercy'

Few could have foretold that Braun Strowman's rise through the WWE's ranks would be so fast and so well-received, but that is exactly what has happened. In Strowman, the decision-makers at the WWE have someone who is truly becoming a phenomenon, so will they really risk killing all his momentum at "No Mercy" later this month?

That is the question on the minds of many WWE fans now as the aforementioned pay-per-view draws closer.

Considering how much the fans have gotten behind Strowman in recent months, it seems obvious that most of them would like to see him emerge victorious against current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and claim that coveted title for himself. However, that is far from guaranteed.

Recent rumors are now hinting that Strowman is not expected to walk out of the PPV with the title on his shoulder, and instead, he may just be the latest wrestler who will be defeated by Lesnar.

That would likely be an unfavorable outcome for many WWE fans, but even if that does come to pass, things may not turn out too badly for the "Monster Among Men."

According to a recent edition of Cageside Seats' Rumor Roundup, even if Lesnar does defeat Strowman at "No Mercy," the belief is that the latter will continue to be prominently featured on WWE television moving forward.

If that is indeed the case, then perhaps the WWE's plan for Strowman is simply geared more towards the long term than for "No Mercy."

Even if he is unable to win the championship this time around, there will very likely be more opportunities presented to him in the future.

It is certainly easy to envision him taking the loss now but then building momentum back up again leading to him winning the Royal Rumble match and then subsequently headlining next year's "WrestleMania."

"WrestleMania's" main event stage is big enough for Strowman, and if losing to Lesnar at "No Mercy" on Sept. 24 helps him get there, then fans will likely be onboard with that.
