Quick Squash Matches Rule This Week's 'Smackdown'

Warning: Spoilers

WWE presents "Smackdown" from The American Airlines Center in Miami, Florida and, as usual, the show was taped last Tuesday.

The show mainly revolved around the ongoing return of the Miz from this week's episode of "Raw" as the Intercontinental Champion was made to fight against the WWE Champion Dean Ambrose. Here are the matches that took place:

Cesaro, Sheamus, Apollo Crews and Alberto Del Rio in a Fatal Four Way

It seems like WWE doesn't know what to do with these men pre-brand split, as all four have been on the mid-card since WrestleMania. Sheamus and Del Rio, in particular, have not done much since the League of Nations broke up. Cesaro also has not done a lot since his return from injury earlier this year.

Cesaro ended up winning the match. U.S. Champion Rusev wanted to have his defense right after the match ended.

U.S. Champion Rusev vs. Cesaro

This was pretty much a squash match as Rusev beat down the visibly worn Cesaro. It's weird to have Cesaro go over in a fatal four way only to have him squashed a few minutes later.

Dana Brooke vs Billie Kay

In another squash match, Dana Brooke pretty much destroyed Billie Kay. There is not much else to say about this match except that the WWE is really trying to push Brooke as this monster wrestler.

Wyatt Family (Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan) vs Local Athletes

In yet another squash match, the Wyatts destroyed some local guys in a quick fashion.

Sasha Banks vs Summer Rae

Sasha Banks has been on fire as of late as she is streamlining towards the WWE Women's Championship. Meanwhile, Summer Rae has seen her stock drop drastically since her storyline with Rusev. It was quite obvious where this was going from the get go as Sasha defeated Summer Rae in a quick yet entertaining match.

Dean Ambrose vs The Miz

Earlier in the evening, The Miz had WWE Champion Dean Ambrose on his MiZTv segment which turned into violence as the Intercontinental Champion got the upper hand setting up this non-title match. While the Miz did put a good fight, in the end, Ambrose was able to hit the Dirty Deeds and get a pin fall.

Overall, the episode was lackluster, save the opening and closing matches. The night was filled with several squash matches and some other matches that made little or no sense. Over grade for the episode would be a C minus.
