'WWE WrestleMania 33': Grand Event Adds Mixed Tag Team Match to Growing Roster
It's a day of reckoning for The Miz and Maryse and John Cena and Nikki Bella as they take each other on in the upcoming "WWE WrestleMania 33."
With only a couple of weeks left before judgment day begins, Maryse revealed her feelings about fighting in the same ring with her husband in an interview with the Sentinel.
"At WrestleMania, with my husband, in the same ring, the same match? If you had asked me if that was possible five years ago, I would have laughed in your face," the two-time former WWE Divas Champion said, further adding that she's feeling both excited and anxious for the match.
After having proven in the past that she was more than capable of achieving big successes, her return to the ring in the much-awaited grand event gives her yet another chance to show people what else she can do.
The husband-and-wife duo will be taking on romantic partners John Cena and Nikki Bella in a mixed tag team match that reportedly sparked fire during the Feb. 28 episode of "SmackDown Live." As it was, Maryse slapped Cena on "MizTV" before escaping the ring with The Miz, an act that did not sit very well with Nikki who immediately joined her boyfriend's side. The incident led "SmackDown's" on-screen general manager Daniel Bryan to pit the two couples against each other at "WrestleMania 33."
The "WrestleMania 33" card now has 11 matches to look forward to in a show aptly billed "The Ultimate Thrill Ride." Aside from the aforementioned couples' reckoning, the grand event will also feature a match between The Undertaker and Roman Reigns. Goldberg is also set to defend the RAW universal title against Brock Lesnar, while the RAW women's title holder, Bayley, defends her throne against Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks.
Chris Jericho will be taking on Kevin Owens to defend the U.S. title, while Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson will team up once again to defend the RAW tag team title against Enzo and Cass and Cesaro and Sheamus in what has now become a triple threat match. A match between Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton will also be breaking out for the WWE championship.
Alexa Bliss will also be up to defend the SmackDown women's title against every other woman on the roster. Plus, there will also be the fourth Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal to watch out for.
"WrestleMania 33" kicks off on Sunday, April 2 at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando Florida. The Kickoff Show officially begins at 5 p.m. EDT, while the main event will air at 7 p.m. EDT. The event can be watched via the WWE Network, on WWE.com, as well as on the official WWE app.
