'X-Factor' Judge Blasts Bath Salts Rappers: 'It's Inappropriate,' Said Demi Lovato

Two rappers auditioning for the "X-Factor" were kicked off stage by one of the judges after they made an inappropriate comment about the controversial drug bath salts.

Demi Lovato, who has battled drug addiction in the past, is one of the new judges for the popular talent show and showed that she has the integrity to be one as well.

During the auditions for the "X-Factor" in Greensboro, North Carolina, Lovato became agitated and upset at a pair of hip-hop hopefuls who made casual remarks about using bath salts.

Reports indicate that the audience could not hear the rappers' lyrics when they quipped, "I'm high on bath salts," but Lovato did, and blasted the duo for using the reference in their song.

Lovato reportedly told the rappers, "It's really inappropriate to rap about drugs in front of kids." The crowd, in agreement, booed the rappers off the stage, preventing them from getting judged for the competition.

Despite Simon Cowell describing Lovato as "catty" and even calling herself "bratty," she reportedly handled the situation as a mature and responsible adult.

It is positive to see Lovato discouraging drug references in the competition given her own trouble with drug abuse. The singer has been open about struggles with drugs, including her time in rehabilitation and her trouble with eating disorders and self-harm.

"Promoters gave me drugs and alcohol in restaurants or clubs. They wanted me to come back so I would be seen there … I thought I was having fun. Being a celebrity can be dangerous. Nobody says 'no.' That's why so many end up overdosing and dying. It could definitely have happened to me," Lovato admitted.

Bath salts, which have made plenty of headlines in recent months, are addictive synthetic powders that have the same effects as cocaine and crystal meth. President Obama recently signed new legislation banning bath salts and other similar synthetic drugs.
